Life without Mathematics
Hii Everyone and welcome here; Math Subject is a fear for almost 80-90 percent of students.
When I was a kid, I was also thinking that Why we have to study this Math subject.
In my dreams ; I used to think if this subject is removed from my life; I would be the happiest person on this planet; because I was not at all in love with this subject called Math.
But in Reality; we cannot even imagine our Life without Math.
Do any of us realize the importance of Math in our daily life? This is a subject that is applied to every field and profession; without the application of Math, no field or profession is complete.
To help us realize this; why don’t we imagine a world without Math?
Imagine living your days without a watch and a calendar; because both the watch and calendar use “Numbers” which is the most basic and important character of Mathematics. How would you know the time now? Wouldn’t you miss your own birthday without a calendar?
Consider this, you go to a shop to buy something but this is a world without math, you do not know what money is, you don’t know about measurements; so in this case what do you do ? So, whether it is a Zoologist assessing the number of animal species on earth or a doctor checking your heartbeat; they have to know how to count.
Without Mathematics; An engineer cannot build a bridge; A quantity checker chemist cannot prepare medicines; if he cannot accurately measure the quantity of each chemical. We would not have had markets and businesses without math as the world of trade runs on money, and as we all know; A country’s development depends heavily on its economic growth. So wouldn’t that be a problem?
There would not be any more advancements of technology as each sector of technology is directly or indirectly employs the application of Mathematics. We all are so much addicted to use the technology of various types that it will be very difficult now; to live in a world without computers, televisions, mobile phones, and even electricity which is generated in powerhouses using the elements of Math.
Despite the importance of Mathematics, there are so many people who resist getting to know and understand it. If you have the basic concepts of mathematics right; then the subject is not difficult at all. Math is not complicated like people believe it to be, it is just their attitude that makes it so.
You were taught addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in your primary classes; since then, you have been applying these elementary concepts to learn new concepts. Can you solve a question of simple interest, highest common factor, percentage, area, volume, algebra, calculus, trigonometry, etc., without using these basic concepts? Every topic in math is based on these basic concepts. It is when the basic elementary concepts are not clear that we fail to apply these concepts to our new taught concepts.
To remove our math’s subject fear, we need to develop our understanding of the basic concepts of Mathematics.
The purpose of this article is to make you understand the importance of Mathematics in our life; because without understanding the importance of anything; we cannot give our hundred percent contribution.
So, if you are the one who is feared of this subject; Please don’t be; only one thing you need to do – start working on your basic concepts; once your basic concepts are clear you will be able to apply these concepts on different levels of mathematics.
